Providing Support to Grieving Families in Need
Our Mission
To improve the quality of life for families that have lost a loved one by providing them with financial assistance. The assistance will be provided through a 501C3 entity with board oversight.
Loss of a Loved Parent & Spouse
The loss of a parent raises significant issues for a family. There is emotional and financial distress and the remaining parent is left with the burden of carrying the household emotionally and financially.
Support for Grieving Families
There is no question that emotional support is the most critical and there are many organizations that provide grief support and emotional outreach to these families. However, there are few or no local organizations that provide financial support.
Providing Opportunities
The family is grieving for the loss of a loved one and in many cases with the loss of income; they are also robbed of life’s opportunities (education, the loss of a home daycare etc.)
In Memory of John J. Liskowitz
The foundation was formed in memory of my husband John Jude Liskowitz who passed unexpectedly in March of 2023.
Over the course of the past year we have come to find the love and support from a large network of grieving families in the area. Although this has been a horrific journey, we have come to realize that many families are not as fortunate as we are. Not only are they dealing with the significant grief, they are struggling to maintain their quality of life with the loss of financial income. John understood this struggle, very well. He lost his younger brother to substance abuse and fought years for resources and benefits to support his niece and nephew Paige(12) and Ryan Liskowitz(9). Until his death, John was the father figure in their lives, filling the gap his brother left behind and was successful in securing the appropriate resources to sustain his brother’s family.
For that reason, Ashley and I founded the JJL Foundation for grieving families. In memory of our loving husband, loving father and kind and generous friend, we want to help the community around us. We will conduct ongoing efforts to raise funding and grants will be awarded to grieving families in need. The Liskowitz family will be awarding $50,000 in scholarship money over the next 6 months to kick off the efforts.
